Pre-Surgery Diet, Day 2

Unlike some of the pre-surgery diets I've read about, mine includes food -you know the kind you have to chew. I am to drink 3 sugar free Instant Breakfasts (or protein drinks) and 2 Lean Cuisine (or similar) frozen dinners. Oh and up to 2 cups of vegetables.

Yesterday was my first day and really it was a relief to do this after several weeks of my "Last Meal" process. I ate/drank my 885 calorie day.

I have to confess, I did have several "What, how am I going to do this for the rest of my life?" moments. Then I would remind myself that 1.) I will have a much, much smaller stomach and 2.) I won't have to drink the protein drinks the rest of my life. Basically I'll try to do low carb, small amounts. The beauty of low carb is that if you don't feed your body simple carbs, it forgets about them and does better off without them. I am talking about your body - not your mind (which is a whole 'nother story...)

I also started taking my vitamins. 2 chewable Complete Flintstones and 3 petite sized Caltrate calcium citrates spaced out throughout the day with meals. I had to choke the chewables down...I much prefer to swallow vitamins whole but with how little my soon-to-be pouch will be, for the first month I'll need to chew (read gag) them. Hopefully I'll get used to them and not think about it as they are going down.

So it's onto day 2...I think I had better take my pre-surgery measurements today because with only 900 calories a day those measurements won't be the same for long!
